Zhang Fei Tempel

Zhang Fei Temple

Zhangfei temple, also known as zhanghuanhou temple, was built to commemorate Zhang Fei, a famous general of Shuhan in the Three Kingdoms period. It was first built in the last years of Shuhan in the Three Kingdoms period, and then repaired and expanded in successive dynasties. It has a history of more than 1700 years. The temple is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with thick shade blocking out the sun. The buildings are rugged, the sculptures are exquisite, and there are lots of gold, stone, calligraphy and paintings. The temple, mountain and water constitute a wonderful three-dimensional freehand painting. Among them, the most noteworthy are the unique articles, calligraphy and engraving, so it is known as the "three unique" reputation. Zhangfei temple is a national key cultural relic protection unit, a national 4A scenic spot, a national scenic spot, and one of the five famous scenic spots of the new Three Gorges in Chongqing.

Zhang Fei, ziyide, was born in Zhuojun County, Hebei Province. Zhang Fei, a strong and upright General of Shu, is loyal, resolute and brave. He has made great contributions to the establishment of Shuhan mountains and rivers, and is respected by the people of ancient and modern times. However, he was born in Zhuojun County, Hebei Province, and died in Langzhong, Sichuan Province. The places where he fought or defended were Dangyang, Chibi, Bazhou, or Langzhong. He was not directly involved in Yunyang during the southern and Northern wars. Why are temples and steles built on the edge of the Yangtze River in Yunyang, a thousand miles away?

According to folklore, during the period of the Three Kingdoms, when Wu and Shu fought and Shu general Guan Yu was defeated in Maicheng, Zhang feizheng was stationed in Langzhong, Sichuan Province, and was shocked to hear the sad news that "he cried all night and his blood was wet on his clothes.". In three days, the Ministry of emergency command will prepare the white flag and white armour of the officers and soldiers of the three armed forces to go out to attack Wu and avenge Guan Yu. Fan Jiang and Zhang Da knew that they could not return their orders as scheduled, and they were afraid of Zhang Fei's tiger power. So they killed Zhang Fei while he was drunk, took off his head and went straight to the east Wu. At this time, Sun Quan, the king of Wu, learned that Liu Bei had launched an army against Wu. He was deeply afraid that he would win the battle and that Wei soldiers would take advantage of it. So he decided not to fight with Shu and sent someone to ask Liu Bei for peace. When fan and Zhang heard of the great change, they were so frightened that they threw their heads into the Yangtze River. In the evening of that day, an old fisherman picked up Zhang Fei's head while casting a net at tongluodu. In his panic, he suddenly felt like a dream. In his dream, he was entrusted by Zhang Fei and buried his head in Sichuan. He could not let it flow into Wu territory with the river water. The fisherman was entrusted and burst into tears, so he buried Zhang Fei's head at the foot of feifeng mountain on the other side of Yunyang County, And invited poor people to build the earliest Zhangfei Temple (named Xianzhong Temple), which is the wonderful legend of zhangfei's "body buried in Langzhong, head buried in Yunyang".
